That mini heart attack that you get when you don’t feel your phone in your pocket for a second is very real till you realise that your phone is in the bag. Unfortunately, the realisation is not always a good one and no matter how slow, old or boring your phone is, loosing it is always traumatic, but there are few things that can be done to ease the loss a tiny bit.
Major one is installing an app called Google Find My Device from the Google Play Store developed by Google LLC. This tiny little app can help you a lot in case of a device loss IF you set it up beforehand.
Once you open up the app, you will get to a screen asking you to choose your preferred Google account. (Only if you have multiple accounts added already.) After you sign in, the app will start showing you all the mobile devices that have your Google ID signed in with. Post this, if your phone gets misplaced (we don’t want to use the word “lost” here) signing in the app’s website will show you the latest location of your phone and the current one too if it is still connected to a network. From this website, you can remotely wipe or ring your phone to help you locate it if the phone has connectivity.
Before you start outraging about who keeps a stolen or found phone active etc. Please listen to us, even if your phone is switched off, the app will give you the phone’s last known location, that has to count for something, to be honest, that is a lot more than being completely clueless about your device.
Go ahead, act fast and secure your phone today!
