FASTags are rechargeable tags, in prepaid format meant for toll collection that allows automatic payment deduction at toll booths. These tags are affixed on the windscreen of the vehicle. Here are a few tips to make sure that the new FASTag does not trouble you even a little bit.
Fastag is a sticker and like any other sticker, make sure the surface you are planning on sticking it is clean enough. If you have a UV protection film on the inside of the windscreen, the RFID reader at the toll booth will not read the FASTag.
Do not apply pressure on the sticker or try to relocate it, both these actions will damage the sticker. The RFID reader may fail to read your tag at the first attempt, make sure you drive towards it slowly.
In case you need to claim a refund for the deduction of toll, make sure you have the receipt of toll with you, you will need to upload the picture on the portal to claim the refund. (Always make sure that your vehicle’s registration number is mentioned on the receipt.)
FASTag required a minimum balance of Rs 100, without which you will have to pay the old via the old ways.
In a smooth RFID transaction, the display will show the FASTag and vehicle category and the arms will lift up automatically. You may or may not get an SMS about the toll deduction but your transactions will get uploaded on the portal, make sure you keep checking it regularly.
We hope these tips help you use your FASTag more efficiently.
