Our guest writer for the day, Bikormjeet Mukherjee, a cinephile, a fiction writer and a meme enthusiast, brings to you set of simple Chrome tips that will make your browsing easier.
As everyone knows discoveries are made because of mistakes. I made one (unknowingly closed a tab) and found some valuable chrome shortcuts which you won’t forget in your lifetime.
Tabs and Windows While working in chrome if you feel weary of dragging your cursor to plus button or hamburger button on the top right corner to open new tabs & windows directly use Ctrl + T to open a new tab
Ctrl + N to open a new window
Ctrl + Shift + N to open a new incognito window.
Toggling Between Tabs Instead of clicking a tab, press Ctrl + Tab to toggle to the next tab & Ctrl + Shift + Tab toggle back to the previous one.
If you want to go to a specific tab then use Ctrl + 1 to 8. For Example, if four tabs are open and you want to jump to the third one press Ctrl + 3 and poof! You’re there.
Ctrl + 9 helps you to go the very last tab which is on the right side.
Closing Tabs and Windows What if I tell you that there are shortcuts to close tabs and chrome window without using Alt + F4. Yes, there are… Ctrl + W will close the tab on which you are currently working and Ctrl + Shift + W will close the window.
BONUS INFO: Ctrl + R reloads the page, Alt + left or right arrow key takes you to the previous site/page or to the next one and Alt + Home to visit the homepage of chrome.
